<trans-abstract xml:lang="en">
<title>The purpose of the study</title><p>The purpose of the study. The study analyzed 46 cases of hospitalized rotavirus infection in children aged 6 to 59 months (average age 23 months [16; 34]) in the early period of the disease. Serum cytokine levels (IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, INF-γ, IL-4, IL-10 and TGF-β1) were measured in all children using flow fluorimeter. In the group of children with rotavirus infection, a statistically significant increase in the level of the studied cytokines IL-4, IL-1β, IL-6, IFN-γ, and TGF-β1 was detected compared to the control group.
